More than just trees
Our reforestation projects endeavor to restore biodiversity with particular attention paid to restoring habitats for “keystone” species such as bees, elephants, and wolves, which have a disproportionately large effect on the health of the overall environment.
Wolves
Wolves have a “cascade effect” by keeping elk in check, which prevents over-browsing along riverbanks, creating an entire chain of ecological benefits.
Elephants
Elephants, the gardeners of the forest, keep dominant plants in check and spread plant seeds through their digestive tract for better germination.
